49ers Make Several Roster Moves Heading Into Week 9
San Francisco placed punter Mitch Wishnowsky on Injured Reserve, elevated Ty Davis-Price
SANTA CLARA - The 49ers made several roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, including placing punter Mitch Wishnowsky on Injured Reserve and elevating running back Ty Davis-Price from the practice squad.
Mitch Wishnowsky placed on Injured Reserve, Ross Dwelley activated
Wishnowsky suffered a back injury in the 49ers' Week 8 win over the Rams and was limited in practice this week. He will now miss at least the next four games while on Injured Reserve.
With Wishnowsky out, the 49ers have signed former Rams punter Riley Dixon to their practice squad.
In a corresponding move, the 49ers activated tight end Ross Dwelley from Injured Reserve. Dwelley has been sidelined since Week 2 with a calf injury.
Ty Davis-Price elevated from practice squad, Jordan Mason released
With Jeff Wilson Jr. traded to the Dolphins earlier this week, the 49ers were in need of another running back behind Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell.
Davis-Price, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been with the 49ers all season but has yet to make his NFL debut.
To make room for Davis-Price on the active roster, the 49ers released running back Jordan Mason.
Other roster moves
In addition to the moves mentioned above, the 49ers also made the following roster moves on Saturday:
- Waived defensive end Kemoko Turay
- Signed defensive end Chris Odom to the practice squad
- Released safety Jared Mayden from the practice squad
