Bears rule out starting LG but will return pair of starting OTs vs. Packers
Chicago will be without Lucas Patrick against Green Bay
The Chicago Bears have ruled out starting left guard Lucas Patrick for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers due to a concussion, the team announced Friday. Patrick suffered the injury in last week's loss to the Washington Commanders and did not practice all week.
With Patrick out, the Bears are expected to start second-year guard Teven Jenkins at left guard. Jenkins started the first two games of the season at right tackle before being benched in favor of Larry Borom. He has played sparingly since then but could be in line for a significant role on Sunday.
Bears to get starting tackles back
The Bears will get a boost on the offensive line with the return of starting tackles Braxton Jones and Larry Borom. Jones has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, while Borom has been out since Week 2 with a concussion.
The return of Jones and Borom should help to stabilize the Bears' offensive line, which has struggled at times this season. The Bears are allowing an average of 2.5 sacks per game, which is tied for the eighth-most in the NFL.
Patrick's injury a blow to Bears' offense
Patrick's injury is a blow to the Bears' offense, as he has been a key part of the team's running game. Patrick is a physical presence in the middle of the offensive line and has helped to create holes for running back David Montgomery.
With Patrick out, the Bears will need Jenkins to step up and fill his role. Jenkins is a talented player with a lot of upside, but he has not yet been able to consistently perform at a high level. If Jenkins can play well on Sunday, it will be a big boost to the Bears' offense.
