Breaking: Lions TE Sam LaPorta Ruled Out vs. Jaguars, One Other Questionable
LaPorta to Miss Game with Ankle Injury
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to an ankle injury, the team announced Friday. LaPorta suffered the injury during Thursday's practice and was unable to participate in Friday's session.
LaPorta has been a key contributor for the Lions this season, catching 14 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. His absence will be a blow to the Lions' offense, which is already without wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle).
One Other Lions Player Questionable for Jaguars Game
In addition to LaPorta, the Lions also listed one other player as questionable for Sunday's game: defensive end John Cominsky (wrist).
Cominsky has been dealing with a wrist injury for the past few weeks and has missed the Lions' last two games. If he is unable to play on Sunday, it will be a significant loss for the Lions' defense, which has struggled to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season.
Lions Hope to Bounce Back from Loss to Cowboys
The Lions will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 24-6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. The Lions were held to just 181 yards of offense in the game and were unable to score a touchdown.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, are coming off a 21-17 loss to the New York Giants. The Jaguars have lost four of their last five games and are now 3-5 on the season.
Sunday's game between the Lions and Jaguars is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
