Buffalo's Season Ends in Disappointment, Chiefs Advance to AFC Championship Game
The Buffalo Bills' season came to an end on Sunday with a 38-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round. The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, took control of the game early and never looked back.
The Bills, who were making their first AFC Divisional Round appearance since 1993, were unable to keep up with the Chiefs' high-powered offense. Mahomes threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, and he also ran for a touchdown.
The Bills' offense, led by quarterback Josh Allen, struggled to find its rhythm throughout the game. Allen was sacked five times and threw two interceptions, and he was unable to connect with his receivers on several key plays.
Chiefs Dominate from the Start
The Chiefs took the opening drive of the game and marched down the field for a touchdown. Mahomes connected with wide receiver Tyreek Hill for a 54-yard touchdown pass to give the Chiefs an early 7-0 lead.
The Bills responded with a field goal on their opening drive, but the Chiefs extended their lead to 14-3 with another touchdown pass from Mahomes to Hill in the second quarter.
The Bills cut the lead to 14-10 with a touchdown run by running back Devin Singletary late in the second quarter, but the Chiefs answered back with a field goal to take a 17-10 lead into halftime.
Mahomes Leads Chiefs to Victory
The Chiefs continued to dominate in the second half, and Mahomes put the game away with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Travis Kelce in the third quarter. The Chiefs added another touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
The Bills, who were the AFC's No. 2 seed, finish the season with a 11-6 record. The Chiefs, who were the AFC's No. 3 seed, advance to the AFC Championship Game where they will face the Cincinnati Bengals.
