CMC takes shot at ‘Instagram doctors' diagnosing his Achilles injury
Injured Panthers star Christian McCaffrey has hit out at "Instagram doctors" speculating about the severity of his Achilles injury.
The 26-year-old running back suffered the injury in the Panthers' 24-10 loss to the 49ers on Sunday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
However, McCaffrey has been angered by the speculation surrounding the injury, with some social media users suggesting that it could be career-ending.
"It's frustrating," McCaffrey said. "I've had a lot of people reaching out to me, saying, 'Oh, you're done.' It's like, no, I'm not done. I'm going to be back."
McCaffrey added that he is confident he will make a full recovery and return to the field next season.
"I'm going to do everything I can to get back as soon as possible," he said. "I'm not going to let this injury define me. I'm going to come back stronger than ever."
McCaffrey's injury is a major blow to the Panthers, who are now 1-5 on the season. The team is expected to lean on backup running back Chuba Hubbard in McCaffrey's absence.
Hubbard has rushed for 252 yards and two touchdowns on 64 carries this season. He also has 14 receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
