Dallas Mavericks Make Luka Doncic Injury Announcement
Mavs Star Expected to Miss Multiple Games With Calf Strain
Doncic Suffered the Injury in Friday's Win Over the New Orleans Pelicans
The Dallas Mavericks have announced that star guard Luka Doncic will miss multiple games with a left calf strain. Doncic suffered the injury in the third quarter of Friday's 111-106 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. He immediately left the game and did not return.
An MRI on Saturday confirmed the diagnosis. The Mavericks said Doncic will be re-evaluated in 10 to 14 days. The injury is not considered serious, but the Mavericks will be cautious with their franchise player.
Doncic is averaging 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game this season. He is one of the most dynamic players in the NBA and his absence will be a major blow to the Mavericks.
The Mavericks are currently 13-13 and in seventh place in the Western Conference. They will face a tough schedule in the coming weeks, with games against the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks and Golden State Warriors.
The Mavericks will need to find a way to replace Doncic's production. Jalen Brunson, Spencer Dinwiddie and Christian Wood will be expected to step up in his absence.
The Mavericks are hopeful that Doncic will be back on the court soon. But for now, they will have to find a way to win without their star player.
