The American player made the comments after she was beaten by Swiatek in the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January.
Collins claims Swiatek was "fake" and "unprofessional"
Collins claimed that Swiatek had acted in an "unprofessional" manner and accused her rival of being fake.
She said: "I think she's a great player, but I think she's also a bit fake.
"I don't think she's as nice as she tries to come across."
Swiatek denies the allegations
Swiatek has denied Collins' allegations, and said that she was "very surprised" by the comments.
She said: "I think Danielle is a great player, and I have a lot of respect for her.
"I don't know why she would say those things about me, but I don't believe they are true."
Collins apologizes to Swiatek
In a statement released on Monday, Collins apologized to Swiatek for her comments.
She said: "I want to apologize to Iga for the comments I made about her after our match at the Australian Open.
"I was frustrated and emotional after the match, and I said some things that I regret.
"I have a lot of respect for Iga, and I believe she is a great player and a great person."
