England v Republic of Ireland: Lee Carsley wants England to 'get job done' and win group
England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley has challenged his side to 'get the job done' and win their European Championship group against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.
The Young Lions are top of Group D after beating Croatia and Portugal in their opening two games.
A point against Ireland in Ljubjana (8pm kick-off) will be enough to secure top spot and a place in the quarter-finals.
And Carsley is confident his team can get the result they need.
"We've put ourselves in a good position," he said. "We've got two wins out of two and we're top of the group.
"But we need to finish the job now. We need to go out there and get the point we need to win the group.
"I'm confident we can do it. We've got a good squad of players and we're playing well.
"We know Ireland will be a tough test, but we're ready for it."
England have a good record against Ireland at Under-21 level, winning five of their last seven meetings.
The two sides drew 1-1 in their last meeting in 2019.
Ireland need to beat England to have any chance of reaching the quarter-finals.
They lost their opening game to Croatia and drew with Portugal in their second match.
Ireland manager Jim Crawford is confident his team can cause an upset.
"We know it's a big ask, but we're capable of beating England," he said.
"We've got a good team and we're playing well.
"We're going to go out there and give it our all."
