Hollywood screenwriter C Jay Cox was arrested on Wednesday (March 8) after being caught in a sting operation allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior with a "minor," according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Operation Details
The sting operation was conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, which works to combat online child exploitation.
According to the police, Cox believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl through a social media platform.
However, he was actually communicating with an undercover officer, who posed as the girl during the online conversations.
Arrest and Charges
Cox was arrested at his home in West Hollywood after allegedly arranging to meet the "minor" for sex.
He was charged with multiple felonies, including lewd acts upon a child and sending harmful matter to a minor.
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation is ongoing, and the Los Angeles Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward.
Cox is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 10.
