Hot Weather Expected in Most Parts of SA While KZN and Eastern Cape Brace for Heavy Rains and Hail
Weather Outlook for South Africa
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a weather warning for most parts of the country, predicting hot and humid conditions over the coming days.
The warning comes as a high-pressure system moves over the interior, bringing with it clear skies and warm temperatures. However, the eastern coastal regions of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and the Eastern Cape are expected to experience heavy rains and possible hailstorms.
KZN and Eastern Cape Weather Forecast
In KZN, the SAWS has issued an orange-level warning for disruptive rain, flooding, and possible hail from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
The Eastern Cape is also expected to experience heavy rains and possible thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, with the possibility of localized flooding in some areas.
Hot Weather in Other Parts of SA
Meanwhile, most other parts of South Africa will experience hot and humid conditions over the coming days.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-thirties in many areas, including Gauteng, the Western Cape, and the Northern Cape.
Heatwave Safety Tips
The SAWS urges residents to take precautions during the hot weather, including:
- Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
- Avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
- Wearing loose, lightweight clothing.
- Seeking shade whenever possible.
- Never leaving children or pets unattended in vehicles.
