Julius Randle Hits Stepback 3-Point Buzzer Beater to Cap Wolves' Rally Over Suns

Timberwolves Star Carries Team to Victory in Season Opener

The Minnesota Timberwolves opened their season with a thrilling 114-113 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, thanks to a step-back 3-point buzzer-beater by Julius Randle. The shot capped off a furious rally by the Timberwolves, who trailed by 10 points with just over two minutes remaining.

Randle's Heroics

Randle, who finished with a team-high 31 points, pulled up from well behind the 3-point line and drained the game-winning shot as time expired. The shot sent the Target Center crowd into a frenzy and gave the Timberwolves a much-needed victory in their first game under new head coach Chris Finch.

"I just wanted to make a play," said Randle after the game. "I knew we needed a bucket, and I was confident I could make the shot."

Randle's heroics were made possible by a key defensive stop by Anthony Edwards, who blocked a driving layup attempt by Devin Booker with just over 10 seconds remaining. The block gave the Timberwolves the ball with a chance to win the game.

Timberwolves' Resilience

The Timberwolves' victory was a testament to their resilience and determination. After trailing by double-digits for much of the game, they never gave up and fought back to earn the win.

"This team has a lot of fight," said Finch. "We never stopped believing in ourselves, and we found a way to win."

Suns' Disappointment

For the Suns, the loss was a disappointing start to their season. The team was led by Booker's 33 points, but they were unable to close out the game in the final minutes.

"We had a chance to win the game," said Suns head coach Monty Williams. "But we didn't make enough plays down the stretch."

The Suns will look to bounce back on Friday night when they host the Portland Trail Blazers. The Timberwolves will be back in action on Saturday night when they host the Denver Nuggets.
