Lions' Tight Ends Depth Chart Getting Thinner with Ridgeway Injury
Another day of training camp, another injury for the Detroit Lions.
Evan Ridgway carted off after suffering an apparent left leg injury
Tight end Evan Ridgway was carted off the field during Thursday's practice with an apparent left leg injury. The severity of the injury is not yet known, but it is a significant blow to a position group that is already thin.
Ridgway was expected to compete for a backup role behind T.J. Hockenson and Brock Wright. With Ridgway out, the Lions are now left with just three healthy tight ends on the roster: Hockenson, Wright, and James Mitchell.
Mitchell is a rookie who is still learning the NFL game. He has shown some promise in training camp, but he is not yet ready to be a full-time contributor. That means the Lions will likely need to add another tight end to the roster before the start of the regular season.
