National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisories for Much of the Northern United States
The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for much of the northern United States, including parts of the Midwest and Northeast. The advisories are in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday morning and warn of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.
Snowfall Amounts Vary Widely
Snowfall amounts are expected to vary widely, with some areas receiving only a few inches while others could see up to a foot of snow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall in the northern Midwest and the Great Lakes region.
Icing Conditions Expected
In addition to snow, the advisories also warn of icing conditions. Freezing rain is expected to create slippery roads and sidewalks, making travel hazardous. The icing conditions are most likely to occur in the Northeast.
Stay Informed and Take Precautions
Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay informed about the latest weather conditions and to take precautions to stay safe. This includes driving slowly and carefully, and avoiding unnecessary travel. Those who must travel should be prepared for slippery roads and reduced visibility.
The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates as necessary. For more information, please visit the National Weather Service website.
