National Carrot Recall and E. Coli Outbreak Is Traced Back to California Company
What Happened?
A national carrot recall and E. coli outbreak has been traced back to a California company, Wawona Packaging Company.
The recall affects all carrots that were packed by Wawona Packaging Company since May 2023, regardless of the brand name or packaging.
The E. coli outbreak has sickened at least 50 people in 12 states.
Symptoms of E. Coli
Symptoms of E. coli infection can include:
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal cramps
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Fever
In severe cases, E. coli infection can lead to kidney failure, hospitalization, and even death.
What to Do If You Have Carrots
If you have carrots that were packed by Wawona Packaging Company, you should throw them away immediately.
Even if you have not eaten any of the carrots, you should still throw them away to prevent the spread of E. coli.

How to Stay Safe
