NTPC Green’s Andhra Hydrogen Hub Set for Completion by 2027

India's largest energy conglomerate, NTPC, is reportedly planning to complete its green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh by 2027.

The project, estimated to cost around 4,150 crore, is expected to produce 113,800 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.

NTPC Green Energy Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited. It was incorporated in 2022 with the objective of developing, operating, and maintaining renewable energy projects.

The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 1,933 acres of land for the project in the Krishnapatnam region of Nellore district. The project will be developed in two phases. In the first phase, a 50 MW electrolyzer plant will be set up, followed by a 100 MW electrolyser plant in the second phase.

The green hydrogen produced at the hub will be used to meet the demand of various sectors, including fertilizers, refineries, and transportation. NTPC is also planning to set up a green hydrogen pipeline network to transport hydrogen to different parts of the country.

The Andhra Hydrogen Hub is part of NTPC's ambitious plans to become a leading player in the green hydrogen market. The company has set a target of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030.
