Scorchers secure services of Halliday for WBBL|08
New Zealand World Cup hero Fran Jonas has signed with the Perth Scorchers for the upcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season.
Halliday was one of the standout performers for the White Ferns at the recent ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, taking 18 wickets at an average of 14.50.
The 30-year-old all-rounder is a welcome addition to the Scorchers, who are aiming to win their third straight WBBL title.
Scorchers coach Shelley Nitschke said Halliday was a "world-class player" who would add depth to the team's bowling attack.
"Fran is a proven performer at the international level and we're thrilled to have her on board," Nitschke said.
"She's a genuine wicket-taker and she'll be a valuable asset to our team."
Halliday said she was excited to join the Scorchers and was looking forward to playing in the WBBL.
"The Scorchers are a successful team and I'm excited to be a part of it," Halliday said.
"I'm looking forward to contributing to the team's success and hopefully we can win another championship."
Halliday will join the Scorchers squad for their pre-season camp in early October.
The WBBL|08 season will begin on October 13.
