Officials: 2 hurt after house explosion in Weddington
Responders quickly dowsed the subsequent fire, minor injuries suffered

WEDDINGTON, N.C. — Fire and emergency medical crews responded to a reported house explosion in Weddington around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Upon arrival, crews found a house with heavy damage and a fire burning, according to a news release from Union County Emergency Management.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and medics treated two people for minor injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
The two residents of the home were displaced, and the Red Cross is assisting them with temporary housing. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
