Pakistan to Host Australia for Three T20Is in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi
Australia's First Visit to Pakistan Since 1998
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Australia will tour Pakistan for three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in March-April 2023. The matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with the dates and schedule yet to be announced.
This will be Australia's first visit to Pakistan since 1998, when they played three Tests and three ODIs. Pakistan toured Australia in 2019, playing three Tests and two T20Is.
Fixtures
- 1st T20I: Karachi
- 2nd T20I: Lahore
- 3rd T20I: Rawalpindi
The T20I series will be part of Australia's preparations for the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which will be played in India from October-November.
Security Arrangements
The PCB has assured Australia of foolproof security arrangements, as they have successfully hosted several international teams in recent years, including England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand.
Significance of the Tour
The tour is significant for both teams, as it will provide Pakistan with an opportunity to showcase their improved security situation and strengthen their bid to host major international events in the future.
For Australia, it will be a chance to gain valuable experience playing in Pakistan, a country with passionate cricket fans and a rich cricketing history.
Historic Rivalry
Pakistan and Australia have a long and historic rivalry in cricket, dating back to 1956. They have played 140 matches across all formats, with Australia holding a slight edge with 70 wins to Pakistan's 64.
However, Pakistan has won the last two T20I matches between the two teams, and will be looking to continue their good record when Australia visits in 2023.
