Patriots Elevate Pair of Linebackers From Practice Squad for Matchup vs. Rams
New England Adds Depth to Defense Ahead of Crucial Contest
With injuries piling up, the Patriots have turned to their practice squad for reinforcements at the linebacker position.
The Patriots have elevated linebackers Harvey Langi and Cameron McGrone from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of their Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Patriots have been hit hard by injuries at the linebacker position in recent weeks. Matthew Judon, Ja'Whaun Bentley, and Mack Wilson have all missed time with injuries, leaving the team thin at the position.
Langi and McGrone will provide much-needed depth to the Patriots' defense, which has struggled in recent weeks. The Patriots have allowed an average of 27.3 points per game over their last three games, including a 33-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 13.
Langi, 28, has played in 65 career games, including 21 starts. He has recorded 186 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two interceptions in his career.
McGrone, 23, was a third-round pick by the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has played in 11 career games, including one start. He has recorded 13 tackles and one pass deflection in his career.
The Patriots will need Langi and McGrone to step up and contribute immediately. The Rams have a high-powered offense led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp. The Patriots' defense will need to be at its best to slow down the Rams' offense and give the team a chance to win.
