After a dominant 56-21 victory over Milan Edison in the Division VII, Region 25 quarterfinals, the Perkins Pirates will hit the road again on Friday night to face off against Lucas in the regional semifinals.
Perkins is 11-1 overall and ranked 10th in the Division VII state poll while Lucas is 9-3 overall and unranked.
The Pirates have won nine straight games since suffering their lone loss of the season, a 35-21 setback to Huron in week two.
Edison
Edison, meanwhile, is 8-4 overall and ranked 15th in the Division VII state poll.
The Chargers advanced to the regional semifinals with a 28-21 victory over Plymouth in the Division VII, Region 25 quarterfinals.
Lucas is led by senior running back Evan Sauder, who has rushed for over 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
Keys to the Game
The key to the game for Perkins will be to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
The Pirates have a big, physical offensive line that can pave the way for running back Ethan Moore, who has rushed for over 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns this season.
On defense, Perkins will need to generate pressure on Lucas quarterback Drew Sutton, who has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 25 touchdowns this season.
Prediction
Perkins is the more experienced team and has played a tougher schedule this season.
The Pirates should be able to use their size and physicality to control the game and advance to the regional finals.
