Perth Scorchers captain Sophie Devine believes Brooke Halliday brings new dynamic to middle order

The 19-year-old made 28 not out off 17 balls at the top of the order before moving down after the powerplay

Scorchers skipper Sophie Devine has praised Brooke Halliday's ability to adapt to different roles in the middle order after the teenager starred in their WBBL win over the Sydney Sixers.

Halliday, 19, made 28 not out off 17 balls at the top of the order before moving down after the powerplay and hitting a six and a four off successive balls from Marizanne Kapp.

"I think Brooke's a really exciting young talent," Devine said. "She can bat anywhere in the order and she's got all the shots. She's a real asset to our team."

Halliday has shown her versatility throughout the WBBL season, batting at Nos. 3, 4, and 5

She has scored 167 runs at an average of 23.85 and a strike rate of 120.28, and has taken six wickets with her right-arm offspin.

"She's still learning her game, but she's got a lot of potential," Devine said. "I'm really excited to see what she can achieve in the future."

Halliday's move down the order against the Sixers came after Devine and Beth Mooney had put on a 72-run opening stand.

The Scorchers went on to win the match by 15 runs, with Halliday playing a key role in their victory.

The Scorchers are now second on the WBBL ladder, behind the Melbourne Renegades

They will face the Hobart Hurricanes in their next match on Sunday.

The Sixers, meanwhile, are fifth on the ladder and will need to win their remaining two matches to have any chance of making the finals.
