Jones To Join Scorchers After ICC Cricket World Cup
The Perth Scorchers have announced the signing of England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones for the upcoming Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season. Jones, who has played 74 Twenty20 Internationals for England, will join the Scorchers after the ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
The 29-year-old is a highly-rated batter who has scored over 2,000 runs in T20Is at an average of 24.30. She has also taken 73 catches and effected 17 stumpings behind the stumps.
Scorchers coach Shelley Nitschke said Jones' signing was a major coup for the club.
"Amy is a world-class player who will add a lot to our team," Nitschke said.
"She is a very good batter who can score runs quickly, and she is also a very good wicketkeeper."
Jones is excited to join the Scorchers and play in the WBBL.
"I'm really looking forward to joining the Scorchers and playing in the WBBL," Jones said.
"I've heard great things about the league and the Scorchers, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
Jones will join a Scorchers squad that already includes Australian stars Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine, and Marizanne Kapp.
The Scorchers will begin their WBBL season on October 14 against the Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
