Halliday to join Perth after Jones departs for England duty

The Perth Scorchers have secured the services of experienced wicketkeeper-batter Brooke Halliday as a replacement for England international Amy Jones for the remainder of the Weber Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season.

Jones, who has been a key player for the Scorchers since joining the club in WBBL|05, was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to international commitments with England.

Halliday, 27, has played 50 WBBL matches for the Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes, scoring 758 runs at an average of 21.41 and taking 26 catches with five stumpings.

She was part of the Hurricanes' championship-winning team in WBBL|06 and has also represented Australia at Under-19 level.

Scorchers coach Shelley Nitschke said Halliday was a valuable addition to the squad.

"Brooke is a very experienced player who has performed well in the WBBL," Nitschke said.

"She is a good wicketkeeper and a handy batter, so she will be a valuable addition to our team."

Halliday said she was excited to join the Scorchers.

"I am really looking forward to joining the Scorchers and helping them achieve their goals for the season," Halliday said.

"I have always admired the Scorchers from afar, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play for such a successful club."

Halliday is expected to make her Scorchers debut in the team's next match against the Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium on Saturday, December 3.
