Raiders' Antonio Pierce: 'Dolphins Remind Me Of Legendary Offense'

Pierce played integral role in Giants' Super Bowl XLII victory over undefeated Patriots

Now in his 13th NFL season, Pierce admires Dolphins' up-tempo attack

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Antonio Pierce spent eight seasons with the New York Giants, during which time he developed a reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the NFL. He also played a key role in the Giants' Super Bowl XLII victory over the undefeated New England Patriots, registering a team-high 10 tackles in the upset win.

Now in his 13th NFL season, Pierce is a member of the Oakland Raiders. And while he may be on the downside of his career, he still has a keen eye for talent. And he sees a lot of it in the Miami Dolphins, who will visit the Raiders on Sunday.

"They remind me of the 2007 Patriots," Pierce said. "They're very well-coached, they have a lot of talent, and they play with a lot of heart. They're going to be a tough matchup for us."

The Dolphins are coming off a 33-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans in which they racked up 507 yards of total offense. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Jay Ajayi rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown.

"They're a very explosive offense," Pierce said. "They can score points in a hurry. We're going to have to be on our toes all day."

The Raiders are 2-2 this season, but they have yet to face an offense as potent as the Dolphins'. Pierce knows that his team will have its hands full on Sunday.

"We're going to have to play our best game of the season," Pierce said. "If we don't, we're going to be in for a long day."
