SpaceX weekend rocket launches: What time's liftoff, where to see from Daytona, New Smyrna Beach
SpaceX is targeting this weekend for two rocket launches from Florida's Space Coast.
A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off no earlier than 7:27 a.m. Saturday, June 4, from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The launch window extends for two hours.
The rocket will send 53 Starlink satellites into orbit.
The first stage of the Falcon 9 will attempt to land on the "Just Read the Instructions" droneship in the Atlantic Ocean.
A second Falcon 9 is scheduled to launch no earlier than 10:54 a.m. Sunday, June 5, from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center. The launch window extends for two hours.
This rocket will send a communications satellite for SES, a Luxembourg-based company.
The first stage of this Falcon 9 will attempt to land on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship in the Atlantic Ocean.
Where to watch the launches
Daytona Beach
The best place to watch the launches from Daytona Beach is along the beach, especially near the Sunglow Pier or Ocean Walk Shoppes.
Other good viewing spots include the Daytona Lagoon water park and the Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
New Smyrna Beach
The best place to watch the launches from New Smyrna Beach is along the beach, especially near the Canaveral National Seashore.
Other good viewing spots include the New Smyrna Beach Pier and Flagler Avenue.
Road closures
Daytona Beach
No road closures are expected in Daytona Beach for the launches.
New Smyrna Beach
A portion of State Road 44 will be closed between the Canaveral National Seashore entrance and 27th Avenue from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday.
Also, Bethune Point Road will be closed between State Road 44 and Riverside Drive from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday.
