Severe weather outbreak brings tornadoes, damaging winds to Oklahoma
A severe weather outbreak is currently underway in Oklahoma, with multiple tornadoes and damaging winds reported across the state. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for much of central and eastern Oklahoma, including the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Residents in these areas are urged to take shelter immediately.
The storms are expected to continue through the evening hours, and the National Weather Service is advising residents to stay weather aware. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management has activated the state's Emergency Operations Center to coordinate response efforts.
Tornadoes reported in several counties
Multiple tornadoes have been reported across Oklahoma, including in the following counties:
- Canadian County
- Cleveland County
- Grady County
- McClain County
- Oklahoma County
The National Weather Service has confirmed that at least one tornado has touched down near the town of Newcastle, Oklahoma. There are reports of damage to homes and businesses in the area.
Damaging winds also reported
In addition to tornadoes, damaging winds are also being reported across Oklahoma. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for much of the state, including the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Winds are expected to reach speeds of up to 70 mph.
The high winds are causing power outages and downed trees. Residents are advised to secure loose objects and stay indoors if possible.

Residents in Oklahoma are urged to stay weather aware and take precautions to stay safe. The National Weather Service recommends the following:
