Dawson Knox Reportedly Suffered Fractured Hand, MCL Sprain in Bills’ Divisional Round Loss
Buffalo Bills’ Tight End Dawson Knox’s Season Ends Due to Injuries
Buffalo Bills’ tight end Dawson Knox suffered a fractured hand and an MCL sprain during the team’s 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round. Knox was injured in the first quarter of the game after catching a pass from quarterback Josh Allen. He immediately went to the sideline and was examined by team doctors. He did not return to the game. The injuries are a major blow to the Bills, who are already without several key players, including quarterback Josh Allen (elbow) and wide receiver Stefon Diggs (knee). Knox is one of the team’s most reliable pass-catching options, and his absence will be felt.
Knox had a breakout season in 2022, catching 49 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns. He was also a key blocker in the Bills’ running game.
The Bills will now have to find a way to replace Knox’s production. They could turn to tight end Quintin Morris or wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie in the slot. However, neither player has the same skill set as Knox.
The Bills’ loss to the Bengals was a disappointing end to a season that saw them reach the AFC Divisional Round for the first time since 1993. The team will now have to regroup and prepare for the 2023 season.
