Hot Weather, Isolated Afternoon Showers Expected in KZN
Durban, South Africa - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for hot weather and isolated afternoon showers in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) for the coming week.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-30s in most parts of the province, with the highest temperatures expected in the inland areas. The heat is expected to be accompanied by high humidity, making it feel even hotter.
The SAWS has also issued a warning for isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in KZN, particularly in the northern and eastern parts of the province. These showers are expected to be brief and localized, but could bring heavy downpours and localized flooding.
Residents are advised to take precautions to stay cool during the hot weather, such as:
- Drinking plenty of fluids
- Staying in air-conditioned areas as much as possible
- Avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day
- Wearing loose, lightweight clothing
- Taking cool showers or baths
Residents should also be aware of the signs of heatstroke, such as dizziness, nausea, and confusion. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
The SAWS has also issued a warning for veld fires in KZN, particularly in the northern and western parts of the province. Residents are advised to be cautious when making fires, and to avoid burning vegetation in windy conditions.
