India vs India A Warm-Up Match: We Got What We Wanted Out Of It, Bowling Coach Morne Morkel, and Assistant
India 'A' Vs. India Match Played on Wednesday
Following the draw between India and New Zealand in the World Test Championship Final in Southampton, both teams flew to Durham for a warm-up game. After India A registered a thumping 216-run victory in the three-day game, bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant batting coach Vikram Rathour reflected on the match.
Morkel expressed his satisfaction with what the bowlers achieved during the match, lauding the performances of Mohammed Siraj and Avesh Khan, in particular. "We got what we wanted out of it," Morkel said of the warm-up match. "The intensity was there. The bowlers bowled quick. They swung the ball. Obviously there's room for improvement but we'll take the positives out of it and move forward."
Focus on Building Partnerships, Says Vikram Rathour
Meanwhile, Rathour discussed the batting performance in the match, emphasizing the need for the batsmen to build partnerships. "We still haven't batted as well as we should," Rathour admitted. "We had a good start on the first day but we lost a few wickets in the middle. We need to convert those starts into big partnerships. We are not worried about it because we have the quality. We just need to apply ourselves and bat for long periods of time."
