South Africa's hopes of reaching the World Test Championship dashed as India seal a place in the final
Graeme Smith criticises the Proteas after a heavy defeat to England
India thrashed England by an innings and 25 runs in the semi-final to book their place in the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship.
India will now face either New Zealand or England in the final at Lord's from 18 June.
Meanwhile, South Africa's hopes of reaching the final were ended after they suffered a crushing innings and 12-run defeat to England in the other semi-final.
The result means that England will now face New Zealand in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Dubai on 14 November.
Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith has criticised the Proteas after their heavy defeat to England.
Smith said that the team's batting had been "poor" and that they had been "outplayed in all departments" by England.
"We need to take a long hard look at ourselves and ask some tough questions," Smith said.
"We need to find a way to improve our batting and we need to find a way to be more competitive in these big matches."
South Africa's defeat to England was their fifth in a row in Test matches.
The Proteas have now lost their last three Test series, against India, England and New Zealand.
South Africa will be hoping to bounce back in the upcoming Test series against the West Indies.
The first Test match will be played at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia from 10 June.
