Tornado Hits Southwestern Oklahoma, National Weather Service Says
What Happened?
A tornado touched down in southwestern Oklahoma on Tuesday, causing damage to homes and businesses. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the tornado, which was rated an EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
The tornado struck near the town of Altus, about 100 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. It traveled for about 10 miles, causing damage along its path.
Damage and Injuries
The tornado damaged several homes and businesses in Altus. Some homes were completely destroyed, while others sustained significant damage. Several businesses also reported damage, including a grocery store and a hardware store.
