Perth Scorchers Secure Amy Jones

The Perth Scorchers have added English wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones to their squad for the eighth season of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). Jones, who has represented England in 7 Tests, 75 ODIs, and 90 T20Is, brings a wealth of experience and skill to the Scorchers.

The 29-year-old is known for her aggressive batting style and sharp wicketkeeping skills. She has scored over 2,500 runs in international cricket and has taken 130 dismissals behind the stumps.

Jones' signing is a major boost for the Scorchers, who finished fourth in WBBL|07. She will join a squad that includes Australian internationals Beth Mooney, Marizanne Kapp, and Sophie Devine.

New Zealand Players to Miss WBBL|08

Several New Zealand players will miss the upcoming WBBL season due to international commitments. The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place in New Zealand from March 4 to April 3, 2022, and the players will need time to prepare for the tournament.

Among the New Zealand players who will miss the WBBL are captain Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates, Lea Tahuhu, Hayley Jensen, and Maddy Green. These players are key members of the White Ferns and their absence will be a blow to their respective WBBL teams.

The WBBL will still feature a strong contingent of international players, including England's Nat Sciver, India's Smriti Mandhana, and South Africa's Lizelle Lee.

Captains Named for WBBL|08

The captains for the eight WBBL teams have been announced ahead of the upcoming season. Beth Mooney will lead the Melbourne Stars, Meg Lanning will captain the Melbourne Renegades, and Rachael Haynes will skipper the Sydney Thunder.

Other captains include Erin Burns (Adelaide Strikers), Elyse Villani (Perth Scorchers), Tahlia McGrath (Brisbane Heat), Jess Jonassen (Sydney Sixers), and Molly Strano (Hobart Hurricanes).

The WBBL|08 season is scheduled to begin on October 14, 2021.
